Installing attic insulation and ventilation involves inspecting the attic to determine the existing type of insulation, age, and depth of insulation. An existing R-value is determined. We will recommend upgraded insulation products that will increase your R-value to Alberta building code or better.
You will be given information about our insulation products as well as a sample of the insulation that will be blown into your attic. We will provide you with a written quote that will include adding batt insulation to your attic hatch and closed cell foam weather-stripping to the perimeter of the hatch. It will also include a waxed cardboard dam built around the perimeter of the hatch to ensure that the insulation is installed right up to the end of the attic opening.
If you live in an older home, chances are you’ve inherited a wood-chip or newspaper-like insulation. This attic insulation does not have to be removed and new highly efficient insulation can be blow in on top of it. If you have Zonolite or Vermiculite insulation, it will have to be removed. These products contain asbestos and are hazardous to your health.
