Furthermore, the insulator is chemical free and guaranteed never to settle for the life of your home, making it highly energy efficient with minimal heat loss.

Attic Insulation Upgrades

Installing attic insulation and ventilation involves inspecting the attic to determine the existing type of insulation, age, and depth of insulation. An existing R-value is determined. We will recommend upgraded insulation products that will increase your R-value to Alberta building code or better.

You will be given information about our insulation products as well as a sample of the insulation that will be blown into your attic. We will provide you with a written quote that will include adding batt insulation to your attic hatch and closed cell foam weather-stripping to the perimeter of the hatch. It will also include a waxed cardboard dam built around the perimeter of the hatch to ensure that the insulation is installed right up to the end of the attic opening.

If you live in an older home, chances are you’ve inherited a wood-chip or newspaper-like insulation. This attic insulation does not have to be removed and new highly efficient insulation can be blow in on top of it. If you have Zonolite or Vermiculite insulation, it will have to be removed. These products contain asbestos and are hazardous to your health.

Attic Ventilation Upgrades

Attic Ventilation Upgrades:

Proper ventilation is very important when upgrading your attic insulation. Your insulation inspector will review your current ventilation system and make recommendations. Ventilation at the rood ridge line is required and must not be blocked at the exterior wall line. Whirlybird Turbines will be recommended and installed to complete your attic insulation upgrade.

Attic Insulation Upgrade Process

Before the insulation is blown in, tarps are laid down from the entrance way to your attic access to protect your floors.

Outside in the truck, our installer opens a bale of compacted insulation. The basic raw material for glass is sand, a plentiful and renewable resource. We use formaldehyde-free fiber glass products which don’t settle or deteriorate over time

The insulation is fed into the hopper, located in the truck parked outside your house, where it is “fluffed” in preparation for delivery. The insulation comes out of the hopper and is blown through a long hose leading towards your attic, operated by an insulation installer.

Blown-In insulation provides a custom fit that completely fills voids and gaps in hard-to-reach locations. Any size. Any shape. Any curve. No matter how big your home is, our hoses can reach any space!

The tarps are removed and any insulation that has fallen out of the attic access is vacuumed up. Then Whirlybird Turbines are installed, allowing proper ventilation from outside into your attic.
